We just shouldn’t start the sentence with “you brood of vipers….”

My wife’s tomato plants will just all of a sudden go from green tomato and switch to orange tomato almost over night. It is while working the word that some of our green understandings may mature more fully. Sometimes it happens suddenly. More times than not, it takes a lot of time.

Presuppositions can be easily disturbed. We will react when this happens, if in your mind, if nothing else. Your understanding and rationality for life is built on things pre supposed. It might be things that have never been proved but they are accepted as if it is the surest foundation. The “building” in our mind and our life, goes on no matter what. So a lot is at stake when these suppositions are disturbed. This is a foundational truth for every faith, Christian or Humanist. ( humanism starts with anything other than Gods word, so we can dump every other non orthodox faith under that title, Muslim, atheist, JW, secularist, etc, etc, they all use something other than Gods word as starting point. )

We have all been trained by our culture, in the new religion, that it is not polite, rude, un Amermican, unloving and even coloring outside the lines, to touch anyones presuppostions, to disturb how they worship their god. Diversity, idols all over, every man doing what is right in his own eyes. This is even state supported and subsidized worship.

That we may be profitable servants ( 2 peter1) lets press in some more. Lets us press in to the cloud of smoke. As Moses said, “it is the Lord.”

This topic, as no other topic I know of, can put more dust in the air! Why? Foundations are being touched.

Ultimately this defines who and what our God is. And what he wants from his servants. What we should be doing. The enemy of Christ and our faith has helped to craft an image of God, that is not born out, as his Word defines him. So no one should feel put upon, but everyone should feel a responsibility to see firmly in their mind the scriptural basis for what they think is true.

And by all means if we think someone is off the mark, we must ask, are you saying this? Or why are you saying that? Bereans, looking in the word, to see if it was so. Iron sharpening iron. We just shouldn’t start the sentence with “you brood of vipers….”

We are defining the God of Love here. If we ascribe characteristics to God that spring not from His word we wind up worshipping a false God. This is also the 3rd commandment, saying do not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.

Swearing while using Gods name does not twist our understanding of God. Ascribing understanding of God that is contrary to the word of God, that really is taking his name in vain, capitol V.

But we will never take every thought captive if a shaking and dust makes us pull back. So we will not shrink back. We have been commanded to take every thought captive. To tear down every false thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God! Our fore father's did not tear down the high places, so we get to do it. It is part of the gospel, good news, and it too is discipling the nations.
