Searching for The Christian's Role

From Gary Demar, another great place for resources.

We as Christians walked away from the universities and the offices of gov't. early last century. In embarassment we headed for the tall grass and focused on getting people "saved" after the Scopes Monkey Trial and the secular comunity started using junk science to cause doubt as to the validity of the Bible. In the 80's there was a resurgance of understanding that the Christian was also called to stand for truth even in the halls of power. There has been much frustration as we now try to restore any type of biblical foundation to our society.

The enemy is now entrenched inside the beaurocratic bunkers of Big media, Hollywood, the universities (intelegencia), and gov't Behemoth. The tenacity with which they fight to keep their power testifies that they do understand how big the stakes are. While we believers internalized our faith they made their faith the State religion, and diligently taught it to generations of Americans through schools and tv and movies. Even most evangelicals cannot recognize how much of their thinking has been taken captive through hollow human philosophy.

So it is gonna be messy and it won't be quick as we find that correct balance in taking every thought captive to Christ concerning all of life. We have a Christian responsibility to be a light in every area of life. The big lesson here was it's easier to hold onto and maintain something than to walk away for 80 yrs and then try to get it back. One step at a time.....

"Stick to the Gospel and Leave Politics to Us."

...Thomas is asking the same question today: “Nearly 30 years after religious conservatives decided to re-enter the political arena—after abandoning it as ‘dirty’ and leading to compromise, what do they have to show for it?”2...

..One of the criticisms of Cal’s is that evangelicals equated Christianity with the Republican Party...

..With the meandering social philosophy of today’s Republican Party beginning to erode the issues that built the party, evangelicals are beginning to question whether they can continue to support it in 2008. Party loyalty only goes so far for most Christians.

...Cal argues that “Christians must first understand that the issues that they most care about . . . are not caused by bad politics, but are matters of the heart and soul.” Let’s assume that 60 percent of the American population opposes abortion and homosexuality but disengages politically. We could sill have abortion on demand and homosexual marriage. Contrary to Cal’s assertions, Christians I know never saw politics as a way to “save America” or convert non-believers. The goal was to help civil government define its proper limited ministerial role.

Its short, the whole thing is here
