The second Mayflower

Kevin Swansons book The Second Mayflower is available. So far it has been good. Will start reading this one to the whole family at mealtimes I think.

The thrust of this book is in the same direction that God has been blowing many of us.

As God always goes from the larger over arching context of something and then will instruct on the details afterwards. It keeps the subject in context. Gods context. You can call that truth. The world specializes in teaching, examining, and probing with no context at all. Without Gods context man gets to go crazy defining everything as he wishes. A great example of God doing this is in Genesis.

I am hoping this book will be another great context provider. It deals with history, the rise and fall of nations , the city of man and the city of God, and what Gods people should be about, through it all. Without the big picture, which comes from using the whole bible, we will find ourselves waiting for the bus to come and pick us up.

We are called to give our little ones Gods context on everything. When I say little ones that’s any offspring you have, of any age. Its also the new believers in our fellowships, they too must be shown, so that they can see the purpose of, and be deliberate in, the teaching of their families when the time comes. And for us old Grognards….we have some major catching up to do.

I don’t want to just sit here and cry about how many evangelicals are looking at and finding deep meaning in the sock lint in between their toes. How much time has been lost as Gods purpose for his people is thought of as, another program about us. Lord open our eyes!

Again I can now see this puzzle Im doing has ten thousand pieces. I thought it had about a thousand. I have been using the wrong box lid and so I know that I have a lot of pieces that will have to come back apart. But I will rejoice and be glad for Gods revelation. Hallelujah! And I will not be quiet. We must understand what is happening, and declare Gods truth from his word to the world around us. We must be busy discipling.

I am also joyful that I am in the company of others who are giddy about finding the lost lid of the puzzle box, thanks guys!

You know what context is really good for? When the details of life seem overwhelming and your stupidity keeps tripping you up, you can remember that it is all small potatos compared to what God is doing. You can remember what is really important, you can keep your eye on the prize, the goal. If you think that heaven is the prize, your wrong. Gods glory is the prize and us being about his dominion work is how we add to it. Everything else is so much noise.
